Looking Back to the Future: Five Trends for Media in 2008 to Thrive/Not Just Survive from Media Futurist/author Joyce Schwarz

Here they are -- how do you think I did in my outlook? Check the date -- that's January 09, 2008 LAST YEAR. Could I have done better by just saying "TWITTER" Iphone, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter?

1)FRUITION OF 'CUSTOM-TAINMENT" --- customizing entertainment, info-tainment and edu-tainment 24/7/365 anytime/anyplace. Personalized content and customized cross-platform. Examples: Barcast-- public signage with text-messaging on a bar network, Ping Mobile & Cox mobile coupon campaign, AOL Buddy, AIM Mobile and AOL my pages for mobile. Blue sky ideas-- blogscroll -- text highlights from blogs, movie reviews, etc -- scroll across mobile/handhelds, Twitter with pix, virtual 3M notes & more .

5) Social media embedded into content, not vice/.versa. Until now we've seen content embedded into social media ie widgets for Myspace.com, widgets for Facebook etc. I see the rise of Social media embedded into content -- Facebook voting app at end of movie (vote with mobile/results on facebook real-time). Linked In-- contact info/bio/zip code into regional biz mags online or at trade show booths-- like CES -- who do you know at that company...OR social media AS CONTENT -- aggregate  widgets of programming -- create your own EPG (electronic program guide) create your own portal, design your own Fancast.com pages.

Southern California Business Growth Conference Wows Entrepreneurs

The Southern California Business Growth Conference produced a big WOW with the entrepreneur reporter Hollywood2020 got to cover the event for us, by Joyce Schwarz, author & emerging media consultant.

Talking about the Capital Zone which was a featured event at The Southern California Business Growth Conference, entrepreneur Julie Fink,co-founder Zolio.com says that the Capital Zone was booth after booth of venture capitalists, angel investment groups and bankers.

...it was like 'heaven' for an entrepreneur....

Julie Fink sums up her experience by saying "As an entrepreneur the Capital Zone was 'heaven', She explains "It is every early stage entrepreneur's dream to walk into a room and see such a wealth of knowledge and opportunity to grow in Southern California. " 

According to Fink, the event was basically a one-stop shop for angel investors, VCs, vendors and entrepreneurs to learn the ins and outs of how to grow business in Southern California.

She explains that many of the people that she met attending the event were working for large companies who wanted to grow their Southern California entities and raise money. "Overall the conferene offered a plethora of business services from legal to IT to accounting." Julie adds that she noticed on the conference badges that attendees came from all over the world to the event from as far away as China and Europe.

CAREER TUNE-UP -- I had the good fortune to do that myself last week thanks to working with NATPE.org on their LATV Fest (www.latvfest.org) including their Digital Day Los Angeles and the NATPE TV Producer's Bootcamp. It was good for me as a speaker and so-called expert to just sit back and be a student and participant in the audience again at the Producer's Bootcamp at HOUSE OF BLUES.
