YOU'VE HEARD OF PODCASTS(Wikipedia) and you already listen to audio books....now welcome to your digital vault a new world of Podio books. What's a Podio book you ask? Well, let me introduce you to Podiobooks.com(link). blogged by joyce schwarz, JCOM, www.joycecom.com
here's a screeengrab of the podiobook logo at www.podiobooks.com.
and the definition of podio books directly from that site: what is a "podiobook"?
Podiobooks is a term coined by Evo Terra of The Dragon Page and Slice of Scifi to describe serialized audio books which are made available in podcast format. Subscribers to the podcast feed for each book will receive a new chapter each and every week. Some listeners keep it on their computers, some transfer the book to CD, but most (hopefully) transfer the file on to their mp3 player so they can listen no matter where they are.
NOTE: Authors provide Podiobooks.com their books at no charge. In turn, Podiobooks asks that you provide a donation for each Podio Book you download. They in turn split that donation with the author. AND YES, the authors report some people are paying. Which is great considering recording a Podio Books is an expensive 'self-audio or should I say podio-casting venture'.

What's The Pocket and the Pendant about:
From the Kirkus review:
"A sci-fi adventure steeped in the lore of an ancient civilization that will appeal to children and adults alike...driven -- and driven well -- by good old-fashioned sci-fi storytelling."
Max Quick's life drastically changes after time suddenly stops. The young man of 12 -- harassed by bullies, living as an orphan in a violent home for boys and about to be thown into juvenile hall -- is mysteriously immune to this chrono-freeze. He soon discovers other children who are impervious as well -- namely, Casey Cole and Ian Keating -- and the three find themselves embarking on a thrilling quest ... Heavily inspired by the folklore of the Sumer civilization of ancient Mesopotamia, the narrative shines brightest in the chapters that focus on the re-telling of this fascinating history. Jeffrey skillfully infuses the story with authentic historical context, and then thrusts this narrative into the future by introducing aliens, time travel and massive gems with the power to stop time and minds -- and difficult task indeed, but one that he successfully accomplishes.
PLUS A NON-FICTION PODIO BOOK TOO:
WELCOME TO THE BEEHIVE: A beginners guide to conquering the world of business by Robert J. Safuto first non-fiction title listed on podiobooks.com

Thanks for including the snippet from my blog post about podio (I thought I'd coined a new word!) As paper book markets blow away, writers need to explore all possible alternative avenues to transport their words to an audience. I think we're seeing the leading edge of a revolution rising.
