AIIDE is intended to be the definitive point of interaction between entertainment software developers interested in AI and academic and industrial AI researchers. Characters that live in a 3d spatial world need to be spatially competent. In this talk we present some of the lessons learned from the development process of Halo2 in the areas of spatial representations, pathfinding, navigation, dynamic obstacle/object interaction and the interaction of all of these with behavior.
