PLAY IT AGAIN SAM WOODY ALLEN AT THE CARLYLE HOTEL and heading to ISTANBUL! IT is an evening to remember. Woody and his Dixieland Jazz band play up a storm almost every Monday night at the prestigious Carlyle Hotel at 79th and Madison in New York City. Now here's the scoop - you don't have to be a celebrity to get into see his gig either. Last minute? You still have a chance, but be patient please. The Carlyle well known for it's fine ambiance and for most music lovers it's famed piano expert Bobby Short now playing up in the clouds somewhere making the other angels jealous, had some big shoes to fill after Bobby went upstairs. So it makes sense that Woody Allen is now there almost every Monday night from about 8:45 p.m. on. Check out the great Woody Allen Jazz Band Blog I found online for details on the band members names/instruments. That's Woody Allen on the Clarinet, of course. Looks like there is a December tour coming up so check their blog for the latest details at www.woodyallenjazzband.com/blog
WOODY ALLEN BAND HOLIDAY TOUR -- ENGLAND, SPAIN, PORTUGAL AND ISTANBUL AND MORE....WOW WHAT A TOUR -- England, Spain, Portugal & even Istanbul on December 29 & more...Woody do you need a tambourine player? Check that site for reservations and details. Looks like you only have a couple of more weeks to catch the band before they head to Europe to sing and swing there. The band includes: Woody Allen, clarinet), musical director Eddy Davis (banjo), Conal Fowkes (double bass), Robert Garcia (drums), Cynthia Sayer (piano), Simon Wettenhall (trumpet) and Jerry Zigmont (trombone). This blogger Joyce Schwarz especially liked the recent BBC story about Woody -- older but not wiser-- even at 70 years old....you'd expect him to say that wouldn't you? TICKET TIPS WOODY ALLEN BAND CARLYLE HOTEL: want to try to still catch Woody and the band at the Carlyle-- then check to see what's left for tickets for this month. Missed that opportunity -- and remember lots of celebs have their regular tables at the Carlyle for years/decades and maybe even lifetimes. Then you can get there really early at 6:30 p.m. or so and try for a bar seat --that's $85 cover charge (not minimum). Miss that opportunity well, still one more chance about 25 people are STUFFED inside the gallery standing room only for a $50 cover charge. Wine and champagne are the usual $14-$15 per glass NYC upscale bar prices. So it's a pricey night. AND don't expect banter from Woody Allen....when not playing his head is bowed and he's holding his clarinet as if he's saying a Yoga mantra....no jokes, no small talk...just great jazz and the privilege of being part of the NY in-crowd for about 70 minutes or so.....New York has something for everybody as long as you've got the bucks or the moxie to find it --or maybe both. See photo below of Woody Allen on Clarinet at the Carlyle Hotel....no fancy costume, same old glasses, but the always engaging Woody Allen is a site to see and a lot to hear. Don't miss it. www.hollywood2020.blogs.com
JENNIFER ANNISTON SIGHTING? Now the big question was that gorgeous dishwater blond we saw head to the ladies room with the shoulder length curls covering her face, maybe not so accidentally --could that have been Jennifer Aniston....sure looked like it to us...we heard Sharon Stone was in the audience just a couple of weeks ago...

We had the pleasure of seeing Woody Allen this past Monday night at the Carlyle. It was one of the best evenings we have ever had. Woody is a legend with enviable energy and passion, and his band is terrific. What a great evening!!
