MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM HOLLYWOOD2020: our website pick of the day is: www.pleaceplease.com.
A combination of community, commerce (fabulous products --see our picks below) and visual messages, Peaceplease.com strikes us as a next-generation realization of citizen's journalism, activism & outreach. Congrats to our colleague Leigh Golterman and her crew on a job well done!.
JERUSALEM CANDLE -- lighting the way to opportunity
Our top product pick on www.peaceplease.com is the Jerusalem candle. These candles represent a project of peace between Israeli and Palestinian women. The hurricane candles are crafted by Israeli women living near Nazareth, and are made with olive leaves and flowers from the region. Each candle comes with an embroidered bag handstitched by Palestinian women living in Bethlehem. These great bags, made from muslin, hold a small tea candle that fits within the larger hurricane candle. 5% of the proceeds are donated to the Parents Circle, a group of Israelis and Palestinians who have lost a family member due to the conflict and have united with each other to promote dialogue and mutual understanding so as to prevent losses in other families.
