NINTENDO IS REACHING OUT TO TOUCH NEW AUDIENCES WITH A NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHING THIS WEEK Nintendo launches: Touch! Generations Website www.touchgenerations.com is the URL and I found it on DIGG (check it out if you haven't used this techie search engine-- pretty kewl stuff). Anyway so is the new Nintendo website that encourages use of their touchscreen for a variety of trans-generational games including:
NINTENDOGS: (yep Nintendo is going to the dogs -- or rather you're going to the dogs with Nintendo) Using the Nintendo DS touch screen, you can stroke your dog, throw it a ball or tickle its tummy. You can even speak to your dog using the DS’ built-in microphone and teach it tricks simply with your voice. NINTENDO's website asks: What has sold more than 2 million copies across Europe and had Nintendo DS owners howling with delight? The answer is Nintendogs - the smash hit puppy simulator.
Other "TOUCH" Nintendo Software titles include: Electroplankten (looks like biology 101 slides), Brain Training (you must have seen this on your local news already -- designed for adults who want to keep their brain young?), Animal Crossing--wildworld -- kind of a Habbo Hotel for 'man-a-mals' for kids, and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney -- where you are probably guilty until proven innocent in this American anime style cartoon riff.
One of the key differences in these games seems to be a) aimed at individual play b) non-competitive c) aimed at the casual 'gamer' or non-gamer who enjoys 'thumbing' around.
