MIKE DOUGLAS launched his talk/entertainment show in Cleveland....in fact my mom was in the audience when he helped introduce a young singer with a big nose BARBRA STREISAND to the TV World... in fact WIKIPEDIA.com confirms that...The show helped introduce entertainers such as Barbra Streisand and Aretha Franklin. Regrettably, Streisand's appearance, like many others of this era, was discarded by KYW-TV.

Douglas did about 6,000 shows, most 90 minutes long, and estimated that at its peak the syndicated show was seen in about 230 cities. 30,000 guests appear on his show over the years. WIKIPEDIA SAYS: By 1967 The Mike Douglas Show was broadcasting to 171 markets and 6,000,000 viewers each day, mostly women at home. It earned $10.5 million from advertisers, while its host was paid more than $500,000.
Eventually moved to Los Angeles
In July of 1978, the talk show's home base was transferred to Los Angeles, where it remained until finally going off the air in 1981. A second series, "The MIKE DOUGLAS Entertainment Hour," ended production in 1982. BLOGGER note -- I remember one time they came to Hawaii when I was there...invited onto the set-- alas I was too busy to visit...makes one thing doesn't it? Too busy to see a national TV show when it comes to your city? AMAZING.....one learns sometimes by not doing things versus doing them too.....
