WHAT's UP WITH THIS SPIRALFROG/UMG DEAL....more info coming out daily it appears.....in summary for you that may not have been following the literally scores of articles and blogs that were spawned off of a Reuters story -- here's an abc to what I see happening there a) Reuters ran a story on a start-up called SpiralFrog (located in NYC) www.spiralfrog.com that did a deal with Universal Music Group for free music downloads...courtesy of advertising they will provide...b) CNET reported on the story... c) Digital Music News referred back to those stories and then revealed that the company appears to be a revamp of an older firm called www.musicloads.com
1) It appears that SpiralFrog is PAYING UMG for the privilege of giving the music away free.
2) Musicloads.com execs have been involved in IAB committees on cookies and broadband according to Google searches by Hollywood2020.blogs.com
