Okay, don't take it all so seriously...it's just a ball right...so look at the darkside of the ball...the evils of golfswing-though...the art of club tossing, five mortal sins to avoid.....the truth about sandbagging.....how to be captain of your own ship (hmm thought it was golf...not sailing?) and being in the present moment ...golf is Zen but in what the authors call tghe putter in cheek book-- you learn how to lower your score...and improve your GOLF ATTITUDE -- NOT~! If you loved caddyshack-- you'll love this.....price is right-- every golfer in the world deserves this for birthday...or stock it in your Pro shop-- keep it on your shelf after a really BAD game...but it's a game remember and you can have a ball if you can't be the ball!

Death by Hollywood by Steven Bochco

By Stephen Bochco -- famous TV show writer-- NYPD Blue, Commander In Chief and Blind Justice....LA Law and Hill Street Blues....but this is his first novel...and you must read it because it's so much fun-- but remember this is another Bochco-- it's totally 'tongue in cheek' very campy! VERY FUNNY...but black comedy kind of funny....Bochco tells the tale of a murder investigation...involving cops, producers, writers, actors and Hollywood acting teachers, actresses and more....the lead quartet is a screenwriter, a billionnaire's wife a murder and a cop. And most of the story involves what's overseen via a $4,000 Bushnell XR90 electronic telescope...where a down and out screenwriter happens on a beautiful married socialite (HOLLYWOOD WIFE-type) sleeping with Ramon, a Latin Lothario acting teacher...and then she KILLS RAMON....so what else is Bobby the screenwriter supposed to do -- but of course write about it -- the whole thing invigorates his writing....and he proceeds to drag a detective and his estranged wife into the story literally and literary....very sexy....the style reminds me of HOLLYWOOD CONFIDENTIAL -- very campy.. |
 The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell
A major book for our times and the future....Malcolm Gladwell is amazing -- I've had the honor of hearing him speak and meeting him personally at a conference. A former business and scince writer for the WASHINGTON POST I believe he's still on staff at the NEW YORKER...this book uses a phrase many of us have used in the past TIPPING POINT -- but didn't really understand how it applied to science and to business. Malcolm tells us how it does. And he applies it to case studies --not unlike FREAKONOMICS does with economics. Why did Crime in NYC Drop in the 90's Why is teenage smoking out of control? What makes TV shows like Sesame help kids read? In this book the author introduces us to influencers and people who help create change by word of mouth. He analyzes fashion, trends, fads and even goes back to the American Revolution for perspective. Basically it's the concept major changes in society happen quickly -- not unlke an epidemic of the flue or a disease spreading -- these are social epidemics and when they take off -- and reach critical mass is what he calls the TIPPING POINT... |
