BRITISH ARTIST BANSKY is ALWAYS controversial and his first show in L.A. did not disappoint -- it made headlines around the world...not for the art but for the 'illegal' paint used to decorate a real-life elephant. Bottomline, the paint was not child-friendly -- it should have been the same kind of paint used by kids for Halloween but it wasn't so guess what the Animal Services Dept busted him and the elephant was cleaned-up before the close of the show on Sunday...Plus lots of controversy comparing painting of the elephant to coloring of baby chicks for Easter etc.
JPEG if Tai the elephant in the room of British Artist Bansky --whose exhibit entitled "BARELY LEGAL" wasn't!
WHAT WAS THE EXHIBIT ABOUT ANYWAY?-- circus-atmosphere about the elephant the essence of the exhibit got overshadowed by the 500 plus-pound mammal. According to AP's press report the reason the elephant was in the room anyway was to provide a visual symbol of the golden chestnut -- "there's an elephant in the room" -- in fact AP reported, "Cards handed out at the opening, which included such guests as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, read: "There's an elephant in the room. There's a problem we never talk about." The statement went on to say that many people live below the poverty line."
Here's links to the news stories about the exhibit and of course the elephant! Hollywood2020.blogs.com checked one of the UK's websites -- www.thislondon.co.uk --here's a reader comment excerpted from that site -- Typical of americans to miss the point completely.....- Bill, uk
