THE RISE OF THE AVATAR ANGST.....
I have dreamed for many years about having a 3D avatar...so then I get a chance...Oddcast.com was on my panel at Digital Hollywood so I thought-- well I'll call up the CEO and FINALLY get a custom-made 3D avatar....and I DID....what I didn't realize is what ANGST the creation of the avatar would cause/create etc.
Here's the insider scoop.

1) I had to help create the Avatar -- yep the old days where companies just create it for you are over-- missed those days I guess...or didn't cache the avatars that were made for me then....Oddcast.com got one of the pros to scan in a 3D pix of me but first the pix wasn't the best quality and then my hair was in the way of my eyes etc-- an ongoing real life problem too.
2) It ain't that easy to personalize...Then I had to go over to Voki.com -- to personalize it..via phone or microphone etc I thought maybe the microphone would be a little 'tinny' on the big screen so I used the phone...and in 60 second increments-- recording your message is no picnic.

3) My personalization ain't their personalization -- so I didn't like the hairstyle on the 3d character they created and I didn't like the turtleneck...and I couldn't change it...but you can if you know the tricks for their software. I could at least change my hair color and I did THAT at least.
4) Then I could not save it for Typepad - -this blog is based on that...hmm so I had to start a blog on blogger.com ANOTHER blog...and I could save it there-- but only one version...so then I added some other avatars....

5) By then the novelty of leaving 60 second messages for their voiceover via phone was running out...and if it turned out that most of the message was okay-- then I let them (the avatars be cut off at the end) Because I realized the avatars were going to get more screentime than me...and I wasn't even getting 15 minutes....
oH WELL...EVERYONE LOVED IT>...ME -- i DON't know...have to think about it and get back to you later :) js.
