Hollywood2020.blogs.com blogger Joyce Schwarz caught an episode of Conversaton with Micheal Eisner where Eisner interviews Barry Diller from IAC/InterActiveCorp (Nasdaq: IACI)AC blogged by Joyce Schwarz, JCOM, author and new media guru, www.joycecom.com . Throughout the episode-- that lasted about 10 minutes Eisner repeatedly questioned Diller on why his IAC stock isn't as high flying as Google or Yahoo. Basically Diller wanted to talk about new media and explained that it's "tomorrow's business'. Eisner got in a few words about his firm's online series "Prom Queen". BUT it was fascinating to hear Eisner keep coming back to the stock price and Diller saying it sells at an 'unbelievable' multiple (meaning low). Eisner who worked with Diller -- as Eisner said -- back in the 1800's and then at Paramount. Eisner also brought up the infamous Diller vs Steve Chao incident where Diller threw something in an office or newsroom at Fox. Tracked down the story according to TIME magazine reported on of all places at www.portfolios.com: " In 2001, Time magazine reported the lore that once, infuriated with Fox executive Stephen Chao, Diller hurled a videocassette at him, leaving a dent in the wall." Nice to know we're in the new media biz now -- Diller was one of the first to jump in. I often tell the story that Diller took a year off at one time, watched home shopping and later said to the media that you can shop in Pajamas when buying on home shopping...and then he buys the Home Shopping Network To see Prom Queen go to this article: 'Prom Queen' Gets International Distribution |
