THIS IS AN OPEN MEMO TO VERIZON EXECS --
both for landlines, wireless and high speed DSL....blogged by Joyce Schwarz @ www.hollywood2020.blogs.com. please communicate about your voicemail outage of more than 800,000 subscribers to land lines to your other divisions.
In case you have not seen what's happening here are some headlines:
Verizon message service cut off
Los Angeles Times, CA - Most of Verizon's 3 million land-line customers are in Southern California's affluent beach communities and the Inland Empire. The outage did not affect ... EXPERIENCE IN VERIZON WIRELESS STORE TONIGHT -- after spending numerous hours on the phone this week and online trying to first ascertain the issue (Verizon outage) and then contact Verizon land lines...I went over to the Verizon store in Marina Del Rey, CA on Washington Street. Hoping to get some tea and sympathy -- okay at least some answers...and guess what I got NEITHER.
Highlights of experience in Verizon Wireless store by this blogger:
* Talked to Michael at customer service desk -- knew nothing about Verizon landline outage. Told me Verizon land line and wireless two different companies...I should call Verizon landline for assistance.
*CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK EXPERIENCE --checked with Michael at front desk to
see if outage was all over or just in Marina Del Rey (hmm should have gone to Google better answers in their headline news than from Verizon Wireless). and Michael not only knew nothing but said he had no landline-- said lots of people only have wireless- yes, I said I know that -- I think it's about 60/40 now. But alas some of us like 800,000 in Southern California alone DO have land lines with Verizon. So he could not offer any assistance at all. I said maybe someone else could help. Finally Michael agreed to pass it on to his manager who was less than 5 foot away. Enaka the manager must have heard me talking but he was busy with another customer and did not acknowledge my challenge. I offered to wait.
*WENT OVER TO PAY MY VERIZON WIRELESS phone bill while in store-- went over to the kiosk to pay the bill, did so. While paying it clearly asked me if I was paying a combined bill as in Landline and Wireless-- hmm Michael thought there was no relationship between the companies yet I can combine my bills.
*VERIZON STORE -- forwarding impossible...can't help me -- don't know the nubmers...meanwhile a gal working at the Verizon store came forward -- she seemed to be staring in space all this time -- turned out she was transferring data from one phone to another. So she actually calls the Verizon landline store -- which is less than a mile away. Turns out they ARE closed -- closed at 5:30 but they give her two other possible codes ~*71 and *74 for me to try to call to forward my messages--- of course that doesn't work either -- busy signal on one and rings to NOTHING on the other.
*VERZON STORE MANAGER experience-- Enaka, the manager becomes available-- he seems very pleased to tell me that he has nothing to do with landlines-- doesn't even know where a Verizon landline store is in this area. I ask him if he has Verizon landline and he says only AT&T services his area of LA hmmm anyway... and then he says he knows nothing about the outage. Can't help. Refuses to call his manager George in Irvine to find out about it to see if he knows -- and in fact tells me that George only knows about Verizon Wireless services. It's a different company he tells me over and over. Yep, I got it...so I give them my blog card and say read about this experience and walk out. Oh yes, Enaka makes a point of out of telling me that he has no Internet access in the store. Hmm I have Internet access on my Verizon phone? Hmm they don't give them that in the store. Memo to Verizon DSL execs-- sell your wireless stores your services-- they could use them.
*CHECK GOOGLE FOR STORIES... so I head home dejected-- hmm must just be me or my street none of my facebook pals seem to know about this outage-- when oh when will it be back...the messages seem to be going to voicemail now but I can't access voicemail -- some progress?? who knows....probably all being deleted anyway according to LA TIMES story about a bug... and suggestions from the mainstream media...nothing on the Verizon.net, Verizon.com website about the outage-- nada...nothing on my Verizon DSL site either -- hmm I probably need land line to have DSL don't I ??
Customer finds temp resolution -- finally on one of the stories (not the LA TIMES) on Google I see an 800 number to call saying that Verizon WILL forward calls to other lines. So I brave it again -- this time 10 minutes later I get an answer from a very pleasant gal named Judy who resolves it and forwards my landline to my cell phone in minutes-- says in 30 minutes I will be working. YEA......
My true sentiments in pix form -- found on google images inserted here....
