BEBO -- WHAT'S bebo is the most frequent question I heard today blogged by Joyce Schwarz, www.hollywood2020.blogs.com. Well it is worth $850 Million of AOL money because they just acquired it! Bottomline-- one of the largest social networking sites on the Internet.
First lets look at what Comscore has to say -- #1 in Ireland and New Zealand-- yep New Zealand also! As noted on CNET.com -- "AOL can now claim to have 80 million "socially networked" members by adding its AIM and ICQ instant-messaging users. AOL's spin is that Bebo helps the company in growing internationally and among a younger demographic. Bebo does give AOL a credible social network, which already has some integration with AIM and ICQ, and lots of ad inventory. In the U.K., Bebo and AOL rank about the same in unique users, according to ComScore."Podcast: What will Bebo buy mean for AOL?
screengrab of www.bebo.com as of 6:32 p.m. Pacific Time Thurs, March 13.
As usual UK Guardian has an excellent story on the acquisition 40 million users and only 100 employees -- nice multiplier indeed!
