And I'm not the only one who believes that this Sci-Fi movie is something special. See what the LA TIMES had to say earlier this week:

Variety reports that Oscar voters are gobbling up the hit sci-fi flick. They've only endorsed a few in the past ("Star Wars," "E.T."). Now Variety's Peter Bart reveals a "dirty little secret" — asserting "'District 9' is an absolutely brilliant movie that could easily sneak away with some Oscars.

"Some critics missed the boat on this one (including Variety), but at a packed Academy screening over the weekend at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, the film received the most applause of any movie in a couple of years," the trade paper adds. "That’s usually a signal."

SLIGHT SPOILER -- okay okay, I still can't believe it -- but the aliens are all CG -- computer graphics -- I went looking on IMDB for who plays Christopher -- the key alien (co-star) and he's CG. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!
