Recently I had an opportunity to visit some offices in different parts of the country. THe one thing that almost all of them had in common was that they never saw the sun!
TRULY -- the offices were designed in what I'd call early 20th Century style where there were square boxes and doors or dividers (not even cubicles) great big dividers. And the people working were on headsets working (and yes living because you do live while you work) in a netherland of ether. It dawned on me it could have been robots doing their job.
Every now and then I saw one of the people sneak a text message to a pal or maybe even a tweet to a colleague! But for the most part they were tied to their headpieces.
IS THAT REALLY LIVING? NOI
IS THAT LIVING THE VISION -- of course not.

THREE EASY TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR WORKSPACE IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS and begin to LIVE YOUR VISION !
1) Take your whole team on a field trip to your local garden center or to Home Depot or Lowes and let each team member pick out the plant of their choice!
YES, each member. On average if you have 20 employees that expenditure will generally be less than $200 much more rewarding than a trip to a fast food place. AND recent studies show that plants encourage calmness and creativity in office spaces.
2) Rearrange office furniture and wall posters/pictures so that each team member has a view of at least a great poster but preferably a WINDOW.
If that is not feasible because of your location. See if there is an office that is empty or an area where there is a view in your location and create an OASIS there for your people -- not to rest but to be creative. When I worked as an account supervisionr at Foote Cone -- you were able to come and go during the day to refresh your brain and your body. Some people headed out for a walk on the Pier in San Francisco; others borrowed motorbikes or Harleys and challenged the hills of THE CITY. At least provide your people some open space to be inspired! You can add some tall palms and some coaches you get at Goodwill but keep it free from electronics. Sure they may bring their own -- but an Oasis IS WELCOME in this multi-tasking world.
