SOUNDSCAPES FOR AN ART exhibit -- yep that's cool but what is even more awesome is when the creator of the SOUNDSCAPES is Drake-- don't know who he is -- you should -- he's sold more than 5 million records -Wikipedia says this about him: Aubrey Drake Graham (born October 24, 1986),who records under the mononym Drake, is a Canadian rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor.
Sotheby’s S|2, Drake partnered with curators to soundtrack their latest exhibition, I Like It Like This. The contemporary art show was opened last week and features 21stcentury Black artists who have been pivotal voices in the area of Black expression within their artistry.
From the exhibition statement:
“I Like It Like This, presented by S|2 in collaboration with Drake, is a celebration of black American contemporary artists through an auditory lens. Music has been an essential component of expression in the black American experience dating back centuries, reaching a creative crescendo with the birth of Jazz in the 1920s, a period famously important to contemporary artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Romare Bearden, and Faith Ringgold…
Grammy winning, hip hop icon Drake has provided musical curation by selecting songs to accompany highlighted works in the exhibition.”
