RED CARPET FAQ'S : my pals want to know what it's like on a RED CARPET reception..so here's some quick insider info. First of all, the carpet IS red. Bleacher type ladders are set up for still photographers, another separate section to the left is for TV cameras, radio reporters to the left of that and print pubs to the left of that. Even though the evening sponsors include YAHOO MOVIES, the only online media we saw was FILMSTEW.com as the Presenter Sponsor for this year’s Screenwriter of the Year Award to Akiva Goldsman who co-penned "Cinderella Man" with Cliff Hollingsworth. "FilmStew.com is the home of 'Hollywood's Master Storytellers', and we are particularly pleased to be presenting this year's Screenwriter of the Year award to Akiva who is a true master storyteller," according to its Chairman John Culton in an advance press release. AWARD HONOREES ATTENDING the HOLLYWOOD AWARDS included: Actor of the Year, Joaquin Phoenix; Actress of the Year: Charlize Theron
(click on thumbnail to see blogger Joyce Schwarz quick snap of the back of Charlize gorgeous gown) Tune back in tomorrow to see our celebrity photographer photos of her face! Matthew Broderick was on the list to attend the event to receive the Supporting Actor award, but we did not spot him in the reception line. We did glimpse Lifetime Achievement award winner Diane Keaton and to be honest we were in awe of Jake Gyllenhaal who is absolutely gorgeous in person who was on hand to get the Breakthrough Acting Award and later saw Rachel McAdams accept her Breakthrough Acting Award sporting gorgeous blonde locks and an enamoring acceptance speech that gave tribute to Keaton who McAdams just finished working with.
PAUL HAGGIS -- DID YOU KNOW HIS CAR REALLY WAS STOLEN? In his acceptance speech Paul Haggis (who was introduced by a very sexy and elegant presenter Sandra Bullock) thanked the dude who stole his car perhaps inspiring the amazing movie CRASH. Bullock saluted Haggis who took off 18 months to write spec film scripts when he was already a top TV writer/producer. Haggis is an inspiration to any Hollywood TV VIP who yearns to cross-over into film. Felled by a heart attack during the production of CRASH, Haggis was back on the set in less than two weeks according to Bullock. HOLLYWOOD2020 also spotted Matt Dillon arriving solo just after the curtain rose for the evening's gala.
Haggis was accepting the Hollywood Breakthrough Director of the Year Award.
