BAR CAMP -- bar none -- across the way at Bar Camp -- see what the press has to say about this new upstart: Geeks to hold open-source campout "A lot of us wish we could go to Foo Camp. We always thought it was a great idea, so we wanted to model something after it," explains Adam Smith, a programmer for a social-browsing technology company called FLOCK. Why call it BAR CAMP? -- As CNET explains in a correction to it's first explanation: The event takes its name from "foobar," a programming term that refers to a dummy variable.
HAPPY CAMPERS: BLOGGING ABOUT FOO CAMP AND BAR CAMP from a distance is like playing craps in a Las Vegas casino from across the street...the blogs and the online pix and the roar of the in-crowd drowns out the real winners..so we'll pick up more coverage on what evolves from these dueling campers in the future... next year there's a good chance that my avatar will be able to join the happy campers anywhere at any time....that's the wonder of GEEKDOM....and if Hollywood gurus (lounging at their pools in Malibu this weekend or working around the clock on their next mobisode have anything to say ...my hologram will do a virtual handshake with your hologram...
