So we returned to www.stardolls.com to see what's up there -- and of course who's starring now. And we found this Q& A which may explain the popularity of the website: What is Stardoll.com?Stardoll is an online celebrity dress up and community site for everyone who likes fashion and celebrities. Most of our members are girls and boys between 7 and 17 There are new dolls every week.

HOW DID STARDOLL.com get started? The site says: Stardoll's original name was Paperdollheaven.com, and started as a hobby by Scandinavian-born Liisa. Inspired by her childhood passion for paperdolls, Liisa drew dolls and accompanying wardrobes, and also taught herself web design. Today the site is operated by Stardoll AB in Sweden and has around 400.000 visitors per day.

ABOUT THE SITE: The site is free and you can : can 1) Save celebrity dolls in album 2)- Write in diary and guestbooks 3)- Send instant messages... and more Basic membership is free and you can upgrade to what's called SUPERSTAR and that cost is about $3.00 (US) per month-- not bad.

On-location at E3 (www.E3expo.com) at Thursday's conference program "In-Game and Around-Game Advertisement: What Marketers Are Looking For"....at the end of the session featuring some top dawgs like Dave Madden, EVP Wild Tangent, David Rubin, Unilever, Monika Madrid, Ubisoft, Brndon Berger, OgilvyInteractive and Kamer Shah, Nokia and Carol Kruse, VP Interactive Marketing, The Coca Cola Co, this blogger Joyce Schwarz asked a question about ARG's (Alternate Reality Games -- see link to Joyce's recent story on Imediaconnection.com iMedia Connection: Alternate Reality Gaming 101)and directed a query to panelist Kruse(VP The Coca Cola Co.) about the LOST TV show and LOST EXPERIENCE (ARG) tie in with www.subLYMONal.com and she said, "Yes, it is SPRITE!"  Aha just as we all thought --all of us that are getting lost and found within the new LOST ARG -- see previous blog post below or link here : LOST -- Sublymonal Madness?? that will give you 7 steps to figuring out what the heck I'm talking and blogging about.

LYMON vs lymon -- Somehow even I missed the imporance of the capitalization of the 'word' LYMON in the URL www.subLYMONal.com . To be honest my post yesterday did not include that capitalization so I just updated it. BUT now it becomes clear that if you go to http://www.LYMON.com it's a website for the new Crispin Porter campaign for Sprite. I couldn't quite figure out why the word OBEY was in the center of the www.subLYMONAL.com wesite -- but then I got it -- the Sprite slogan “Obey your thirst”.

LOST -- SubLYMONal Madness??

Drinking the LOST TV show Kool-aid yet? Or are you like me just totally lost. Suddenly a TV show LOST which is 15th in popularity in the USA is the talk of the town or should I say the world....Check out the front page of the print edition of Wednesday's USA TODAY (link here: USA Today, and yes, the headline is Lost in Lost -- click on thumbnail and you'll see a cool beach shot of the LOST cast waiting for Tsunami to hit (ooops just kidding)--- the only tidal wave is the audience and online reaction that this show and it's suddenly mysteriously fun LOST EXPERIENCE (an ARG -- Alternate Reality Game) is prompting!

Want to get back into the LOST LOOP? Here's what I suggest:

1) Read the link to the USA Today article-- USA Today, it clears up some myths about what's happening on the show and it also prompts more curiosity.

2) Consider reading the real book by a fake author or is it a fake book by a real author -- here is that link book for "BAD TWIN" -- link courtesy of this blog post from FAST CO.Lost" and Found

3) Tune into the LOST discussion group from USA TODAY (yep that newspaper seems pretty obsessed with LOST ....Countdown to 'Lost' where you'll find links to print ads in newspapers (not USA TODAY -- but LOST media buyers give these guys a break -- buy a USA TODAY ad -- they gave you a front page story!! Here's a link to the fake ads for what appears to be a fake foundation (yep that same one I wrote about yesterday noted at the end of the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3 film with a special thanks!

5) TV's Lost inspires 'game' Lost Experience check out this article on the trade pub Computerandvideogames.com (CVG) -- I had to laugh at that because when I showed my articles to get into E3 as media today I had a story on ARGs (Alternate Reality Games) with me-- I think the guy at the front desk didn't consider it a REAL video game article -- and gave me a hard time about getting in --ARG -- what the heck is that? AND THEN Don't drink the Kool-aid   too young to know what I mean -- well --- go to wordspy.com and they will explain kiddos....Word Spy - drink the Kool-Aid

MORE LATER.....I'll let you know if anyone at the E3 show even knows what I'm talking about -- it doesn't seem to be reaching that hard core gaming audience -- just another 20 million or so people out there --- and you say no one's watching television anymore?????????

INTERNET IN 2015 -- DYSON & CERF SOUND OFF

CERF-- key points: Mobility has entered the world, big time,Geo-indexed information has increased in value Broadband is finally coming, and is highly penetrant already in some communities Channel surfing will be replaced by menu selection,By the end of the decade, we will have a two planet Internet in operation,The Internet reaches only about a billion users so there are another 5.5 billion to go.

DYSON -- keypoints: The Internet will have become more ubiquitous but less visible,most things will have Internet identities ,the biggest issue will be not search but filtering:  fundamental shift in the balance of power towards,much harder for consumers to get free content anonymously individuals. People go on the Web in search of attention; they don't want to give it as much as get it. It's just that the advertisers are not the center of attention ,people judge their own worth by their number of friends (Friendster) or fans (MySpace) or business contacts (LinkedIn). Internet of the future will be much more tightly linked to physical space.

READING 10,000 YEARS FROM NOW -- WHAT IS COMMUNICATION?

WHAT IS COMMUNICATION? HOW DO YOU CREATE A SIGN THAT CAN BE READ 10,000 YEARS FROM NOW? A note in Slashdot.org linking to a newspaper story prompts this blogger to ponder -- what is communicaton? Will people read 10,000 years from now? "The Los Angeles Times discusses the problems with trying to leave a message for generations down the line.

MESSAGES TO THE FUTURE FROM THE PAST:

PICTOGRAMS IN HISTORY: WHICH SOMEHOW REMINDED ME OF COURSE OF THE UPCOMING MOVIE: DAVINCI CODE:

According to Mesopotamia.co.uk: the earliest writing was based on pictograms. Pictograms were used to communicate basic information about crops and taxes.

The Mesopotamia site notes that, "Over time, the need for writing changed and the signs developed into a script we call cuneiform.   What I find so amazing as a high tech consultant is how much the cuneiform sketch on this site looks like a PDA in a hand! Is that what Apple's Newton used as a prototype?  

The cuneiform evolved over the centuries so that it could be used by various languages to explain not only symbols but sounds of words according to this website.

Further research shows that: About 150 000 Aibos have been sold since they debuted in 1999. Alas, belt-tightening at Sony forced the company earlier this year to dispense with its robotics unit.

WHICH LEADS ME TO OF COURSE ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLOG POSTS -- PIXELCHIX -- don't ask just believe it -- Pixelchix is proabably Holywood2020's favorite blog post ever in one year of posting!   And can a 3d sculpture really convey concepts-- not unlike the pictogram is it? and so it goes...from writing to symbols to signs.....and shapes....will anyone read in the future...to be continued.

OnHollywood Future of TV Panel Via the Web

Watching the "OnHollywood" (http://www.alwayson-network.com) panel about "THE FUTURE OF TV" via the web today was a trip....in fact when I was selecting key words for this blog I realized that participating via text chat with the audience made it seem more like a game than a conference session. It was really fun!

Blogger Joyce Schwarz cached her first chat contribution to the AlwaysOn "OnHollywood" chat session in conjunction with "The Future of TV" panel streamed via the web.

TALK TO YOUR TV, WATCH YOUR PHONE....for decades experts have been telling us that we will talk to our TV in the future and watch our phone and it's finally here -- at least the capabilities. Surprisingly, when this blogger, Joyce Schwarz wrote in the chat session about TextTV -- SMS TV -- which is big in Europe, I got a couple of questions back about what it was. Yet, here we were doing something very similar in a chat box right next to a streaming video of the session at the OnHollywood conference over at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. CYWORLD -- will SK Telecom rule online worldwide? Suddenly Korea's SK Telecom is in the news and moving forward on several fronts.

Korean social-network Cyworld is moving onto US land with a beta out of San Francisco. If you don't know about Cyworld -- you should! The Korean social-networking service has reached saturation among young South Koreans, with reports estimating 90% of late teens to twenty-somethings . YAHOO INTERNATIONAL REMIXER :NEXT GEN MASH-UP TOOL FOR "YOU-MEDIA"

YAHOO RESEARCH BERKELEY ROLLS out it's newest 'you media' tech --The International Remixer" at the SF Intl Film festival(SFIFF) Too discover the fun of the new system go to  www.sffs.org. Even though the festival's over and the winners have been announced in the remix event, you can still mash-up the festival films with accompanying music provided by the site.

A citizen media project encouraged would-be filmmakers to use the Yahoo International Remixer to mash-up, slice & dice and score their own mini-films which are not only being shown on the site after the festival but were actually screened during the festival at a special event and awards were handed out for these mix-ups.

Kinotek --SF Intl Film Festival New Media

According to the SF CHRONICLE, features new to the SF Intl. festival this year included what the festival organizers are calling "KinoTek" --experiments with electronic video and real-time digital images, KinoTek was interpreted at the festival with five programs represented by  Addictive TV, Cock Byte, Masters of Machinima, Pocket Cinema and of course Internatonal Remix. In the CHRONICLE report, Grehan Leggat, San Francisco Film Society's executive director says "Just the thought that you can be on a bus today watching a film on your cell phone or other small device and the person next to you can see it over your shoulder -- that's pretty wild" . Leggat considers it the responsibility of the festival to explore those new technologies. In the SAN JOSE MERCURY coverage Leggat underscores his interest in new media and delivery systems by saying, " ``No longer can we think of movie-going and the social environment that goes with that as just one thing.''

IMMERSIVE PINATA ISLAND

The immersive world for Viva Pinata by Rare for kids seems like a fascinating adventure that will continue to evolve via XBox Live service. Hopefully the story is a bit more exciting than the description on the website which talks about pinatas on pinata island (they do note that it doesn't exist so kids don't run to the web or to their old print Encyclopedias in the school library looking for Pinata Island. It seems that once Pinatas reach their maximum "candiosity" (*their word, not mine) that they are hit with bats and then sent back to Pinata island to do it all over again!

So in a way the new world of content cross platform lends itself to almost creating the product placement. Create the goodies first and then evolve into obviously candy, and Pinatas and probably cookies and hopefully something much more healthy and active for these kids who are heading for o-b-e-s-i-t-y otherwise!!!!
