AND SO IT GOES..Amazingly Simple to Report Theft Via Online Websites

AND SO IT GOES.....when a good trip goes bad and suddenly your rental car is broken into while you're traveling, it's often easier for the road warrior to 'fugettaboutit' than to do your civic duty and report the crime...by Joyce Schwarz blogging at Hollywood2020.blogs.com.

Easy to report-- no need to fuggetabout reporting crimes while traveling....In fact, I felt maybe I had gotten off easy -- all I lost was my good leather coat, a couple of holiday gifts - including one just purchased hours earlier and two good jackets. One of my pals even put a positive spin on it saying maybe it was a homeless person who needed my jackets to keep warm...well I hope whoever the thieves are -- they enjoy that Pop-up book of Goddesses that I bought for someone extraordinary I just met this week. But it nagged at me -- maybe I SHOULD report the theft...so I looked up car break-ins for Mountain View California -- the site of the car break-in this blogger experienced....and I saw METH mentioned ---ughhhhh METH..you've seen my post on the Montana Meth project...nothing enrages me more than theft for drugs...if that is a possibility ughhhhhh(if you haven't seen my post on this or don't know about this award winning project that has a bit of the SCARED STRAIGHT strategy used years ago that I helped to promore...then check it out!Hollywood2020: SIEBEL'S MONTANA METH PROJECT: LARGEST ADVERTISER ...

ANYWAY...this blogger headed over to the City of Mountain View, CA site and found it looks relatively painless to report the theft. Just to check, I called the MountainView police Department and a woman answers ALMOST immediately seconds -- maybe 2 rings-- talk about on the ball...and says yes, even if it's grand theft -- more than $400 which it was I can report it. http://www.ci.mtnview.ca.us/city_hall/police/crime_prevention/report_a_crime_or_incident.asp

Turns out that the only snag is on my end...my printer is not working for some reason I have to figure out tomorrow...blip in hooking it up to new laptop etc...so I'll have to copy and paste the report into an email to make sure I have a copy for myself...otherwise I have to wait a few days for them to respond and hope they got my report...and then pay for  a printed copy or an official copy ..not sure which...so wish me luck....and if it really was a homeless person who stole my coats and holiday gifts from the America's Inn parking lot on El Camino in Mountain View --good luck to you.  If it was anyone else...well, police report is being filed NOW.......

According to Dr. Gian-Luca Bona, Dept Group Manager of Sci & Tech for IBM's Almaden Research Center you're going to need a terabyte of storage at least for next gen apps. And flash drives are NOT fast enough for video. As Hollywood2020.blogs.com Joyce Schwarz is known for saying -- "Storage is the secret to the next decade of info-media". Personal storage or access to stored media will propel growth more than any other mechanism is our belief. Dr. Bona's comments on a panel moderated by former IBM guru John Patrick now  at Altitude LLC. was 'BIG" on storage talk -- even though the panel was actually supposed to be about Nanotechnology.

WIKIPEDIA on storage-- we quickly turned to Wikipedia and found this info which may be of interest: "personal computers and related devices such as TiVos containing a terabyte or more of storage space have recently become practical using combinations of high-capacity mass-market hard drives. As of June 2006, common commercial hard drives were up to 750 gigabytes in size, so storage capacity totalling 1.5 terabytes can be reached using as few as 2 hard disks, at a street cost of as little as USD $450.

SIGNS & POSTERS -- NEWFOUNDLAND FAVES IMPRINT ON THE MIND & MEMORY -- EARTH TO HUMAN -- INANIMATE OFTEN MORE ANIMATED THAN HUMAN?

THE ANCIENT PROVERB SAYS A PICTURE TELLS A THOUSAND WORDS...yet, I find it's some times the signs and posters that tell even more about a place-- in fact, they are the things that make a space a place...they brand it, they show the curves and bends in the roads and give character to what at first seems like tourist markings. THE KING OF NEWFOUNDLAND?

we kiddingly called entrepreneur, Bruce Martin,  "the KING OF NEWFOUNDLAND" -- he seemed to be the sharp operator of tour bus lines, school buses, ambulances, and even headstone services. LOBSTER TRAPS WERE EVERYWHERE BUT NO LOBSTERS WERE SIGHTED -- except at the Bonne Bay Marine Center...darn -- it was not lobster season so my visions of lobster salad and buttered lobster were in vain. In fact though, in one location (not to be named) lobsters for our group were ordered special and alas, someone stole them before our hostess could get them to her kitchen!

Lobster traps for sale....in Newfoundland....According to one of our favorite sources -- WIKIPEDIA: "A piece of bait, often fish, is placed inside the trap. The entrances to the traps are designed to be one-way entrances only. The traps are checked every other day by the fisherman and rebaited if necessary. One study indicated that lobster traps are very inefficient and that almost all lobsters walk right out of them.
